Yellowcard’s lawsuit against the late rapper Juice WRLD is been put in stay by U.S. District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall.
According to The Chicago Tribune, the judge put the lawsuit on stay until someone from JuiceWRLD’s estate could be appointed.
Yellowcard filed a $15 million lawsuit in October against the late rapper, co-writer Taz Taylor and Nick Mira for copyright infringement, alleging Juice WRLD’s song “Lucid Dreams” infringed on it’s 2006 song “Holly Wood Died”.
Juice WRLD died of an accidental overdose on Dec. 8 at Chicago’s Midway Airport in front of his girlfriend.
Yellowcard extended the deadline for defendant’s to respond to the lawsuit from the Dec. 9, until Feb. 4..
According to documents obtained by Pichfork, the judge has set a deadline of April. 13. for a status update on the proceedings.
