YNW Melly Asks Judge To Speed Up His Murder Trial

FLORIDA- Rapper YNW Melly has requested to go on trial for murder as soon as possible, telling a Broward County judge that he’s tired of waiting after three years in jail, reports the Sun Sentinel.

In Florida, a defendant can demand a speedy trial at any point in the legal process, which will force proceedings to begin within 50 days.

Melly, 22, could have his trial began as soon as Jan.

The Florida rapper, whose real name is Jamell Demons, is accused of killing his two best friends, Anthony D’Andre Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr, who went by the rap names YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, on Oct. 26, 2018 after a studio session.

Investigators say Melly’s other friend and fellow YNW member, Cortlen Malik Henry, who goes by YNW Bortlen, was the alleged driver that night and that he and Melly staged the killings to make it look like a drive-by.

Melly was charged with murder.

Henry is accused of driving the wounded passengers to a near-by hospital, but Melly wasn’t present, according to authorities.

Henry was also charged with murder, despite investigators saying he wasn’t the gunman. He was also charged with accessory after the fact.
