FLORIDA- Two parents have been charged in the death of their 18-month-old son who died from being starved.
According to The Florida Myers News-Press, police say they responded to a call about a toddler not breathing on Sept 27.. When they arrived, he was pronounced dead on the scene.
The mother Sheila O’Lear, 35, told authorities she along with the father had fed all four of their children foods such as bananas, avocados, orangutans and mangoes.
The O’Leary’s turned themselves in after the medical examiners report came out. The mother says the toddler died from teething, and that he was taken off of solid foods 2 weeks dying but she was breastfeeding him.
The medical examiners report says that the 18-month-old boy died from being malnourished.
Both parents are facing manslaughter and child neglect charges.
Sheila O’Lear, 35 and Ryan O’Leary, 30, are currently booked in jail where their bond has been set for $25,000. They’re both scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 9.
