KANSAS- A former school resource officer, who also worked as a police officer, has been sentenced for raping a girl under the age of 14.
Mark Scheetz, 32, was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison, according to the Kansas Attorney General’s Office. He won’t be eligible for parole for a minimum of 50 years.
Scheetz was convicted by a jury of two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy with a child younger than 14, sexual exploitation and intimidating a witness.
He was also given another 30 years for sexual exploitation of a child and six months for intimidating a witness.
Scheetz was a resource school officer at the time he was charged, and he also worked for the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office between 2016 and 2018.
The sick crimes took place between 2012 and 2015.
